About Bridgewater, MA - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

The charming community of Bridgewater is located 25 miles south of Boston and lies along the banks of the Taunton River.  The town was chartered in 1656 and named after Bridgewater, Somerset, England.

During the 1800’s and early 1900’s the town was dependent mostly on its iron works factories.  One such factory, the Bridgewater Iron Works, is a registered historical site.  In 1994 the factory was torn down and turned into a park.  Today Bridgewater still has active iron works factories such as Ashmont Iron Works and Superior Nail & Iron.

The school district in Bridgewater is shared with neighboring Raynham.  Both towns operate their own elementary and middle schools but have a common high school, Bridgewater-Raynham Regional High School.  Also located in town is Bridgewater State University.  This school is a public liberal arts university that was originally founded as a “normal school”.  Of the state’s nine state universities, it is the largest outside of the University of Massachusetts system.

For the out-door enthusiasts Bridgewater has much to offer.  In addition to the Taunton River, the town has several ponds, the largest being Lake Nippenicket.  A large part of the Hockomock Swamp Wildlife Management Area is located in the western part of Bridgewater.  The town also boasts a state forest, a town forest, and several conservation areas.  With a continental climate, these areas can be enjoyed all year long.
